342. The sedative salt of Homberg?

This was first prepared by Wilhelm Homberg (1652-1715) and was given the name sal sedativum Hombergi ("sedative salt of Homberg")

Used in a myriad variety of ways – Antiseptic for minor burns and cuts, Insecticide, Flame retardant, In nuclear power plants to control the fission rate of uranium etc

More known by the masses in India (at least) for a slightly different usage.

Boric powder. Used for carrom boards in India.
